about
Personal Note: I wrote "To The Water" after reading a book called Anam Cara by John O'Donohue. There was a section in the book on water and the connectivity it brings to one's faith. So may times in faith based music, we hear of people going to water for comfort, cleansing, questions, answers and new life. Water is symbolic in almost every major religion and I wanted to capture the fluidity and vastness of it's meaning and symbolism in this song. It is by far one of my favorite songs I have ever written and recorded. I hope listeners will step into it and feel as if they have experiences a moment of healing and cleansing.
lyrics
To the water
I'm going down to the water today
I'm going down cause its whispering my way
And I don't know if she'll have much to say
But I'll listen,listen for you.
Oh I'll listen, listen for you
Oh and I'll sing my song there as I wait for you
And I'll wash my body so I'll be renewed
I'm going down to the water today
I'm going down cause its whispering my way
And I don't know if she'll have much to say
But I'll listen,listen for you.
Oh I'll listen, listen for you
Oh and I'll raise my hands up to the setting sun
And I'll close my eyes there till the moon is born
My soul longs for you
In a dry land where the wells are few
My heart beats for you
Inside dusty bones that cry out for your truth
I'm going down to the water today
I'm going down cause its whispering my way
And I don't know if she'll have much to say
But I'll listen,listen for you.
Oh I'll listen, listen for you
And I'll wait for the deep to call out to me
And I'll wait for your voice to come set me free
